Why can I only see previews for the first 60 pages?

Rendering thumbnails for a very long document would use a lot of memory, so previews stop at 60 pages. Splitting still works across every page in the file.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied into the new documents without re-encoding, so text remains selectable and images keep their original resolution.
